Last round of old SAT

The old SAT will be laid to rest today as the College Board prepares for the new SAT debuting on March 5. The redesigned SAT will see a lot of changes compared to the older version. It is not surprising that more than 3,51,000 test takers have registered for the last version of SAT. This increase can be attributed to the fact that students want to take the more familiar version instead of becoming ‘laboratory rats’ for the new SAT. While students are stressing out on the new SAT, the exam promises to focus on building more real world skills. The new SAT has a revised structure with a lesser emphasis on essays and vocabulary and more importance on evidence-based answers and analysis problems. The old SAT has enjoyed a decade long run with the last revamp done in 2005. It will be interesting to see the reaction of the students to the new SAT in March.
