Can You Play the Minority Card in a College Essay

Can You Play the Minority Card in a College Essay? Is it bad to play the minority card in a college essay? The rules for writing an essay in college have changed since my freshman year at college.Writing a paper is fun, especially when you are writing a favorite non-fiction book or movie script. However, if you are writing an essay that is required for your college application, it is not going to be a good idea to play the minority card. Here are a few things to remember when writing your essay.First, this essay will be read by the admissions committee at the college you are applying to. They will look at what you have written and how it fits into the criteria for admission. For example, if you use examples from your favorite non-fiction book to support an argument, they will look at that argument and wonder how the reader could possibly make that argument. In order to avoid that type of problem, you want to focus on what your college essay is trying to accomplish. When you do write in your own voice, writing for a native language, the end result will be different from a person who writes for a college board in English. I think of college essays as being like tests. While it is true that when you study and test on the same day that you are trying to become a better student, the test is a standardized English test, your test is a college essay. If you are writing a better essay than what is required for admission, your essay may be thrown out or you will be told by your college that you did not earn admission because you did not follow proper essay guidelines.Second, don't use a bibliography. That will only make your essay appear like you don't care about your essay topic. You should be choosing one particular idea from several and putting it into an article. This will give the reader a feeling that you are interested in the topic, but it will also make it appear like you were trying to impress the admissions committee. Finally, in order to get through the College E ntrance Examination (CE) successfully, you must write well. Your college essay should not be seen as a way to impress admissions officers. It should be viewed as a challenge to yourself, as a way to stay on top of your subject.
